Mr Amos Omonigho Ojame have been a politically active member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria. his passion for politics has always been driven by a desire to see positive change in his country. However, this passion nearly cos him his dear life.
“In December 2021 he invited Mr. Omifidipe to join . During our transaction, I invited him to join an upcoming PDP rally against bad government, and even provided him with leaflets and a hat. He showed interest, and I thought nothing more of it. Unbeknownst he was an active member of the All Progressive Congress (APC), the ruling party in Nigeria
.
But little did I know, my actions had just put a target on my back as I did not know before hand that he is a member of dangerous cult groupl. Later that day, Mr. Omifidipe arrived at my house with members of the Blackaxe group, armed with swords and axes, intent on killing me for my political views. I managed to escape, but my friend who was staying with me was severely injured, barely escaping with his life.
As I later discovered, Mr. Omifidipe was not only an APC member but also had a reputation for being involved in numerous murders. I was forced to go into hiding, constantly moving from place to place to avoid being targeted again. The incident occurred on December 29, 2021, and it’s a day that will forever be etched in my memory.
This experience has left me shaken but also more determined to continue fighting for what I believe in. It’s a sobering reminder of the risks involved in speaking out against the ruling party in Nigeria. Despite the dangers, I remain committed to my political ideals and will continue to advocate for positive change in my country.
The incident has also highlighted the need for greater protection for political activists and opposition members in Nigeria. It’s imperative that the government takes concrete steps to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, regardless of their political affiliations.
