LASPA WARNS AGAINST VANDALISATION OF PARKING SIGNAGES

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has warned the public to desist from the willful vandalism of its parking signages erected throughout the State.

This warning follows the apprehension of a suspect identified as Mr. Friday John, who was arrested while attempting to sell parking signages on Sasegbon Street, Ikeja GRA. Mr. Friday, a construction worker, was caught red-handed by law enforcement officers.

A statement from the Agency said vandalism of parking signages poses a threat to public safety, disrupts the smooth flow of traffic, and creates inconvenience for drivers seeking parking spaces. It is a criminal offence with serious consequences, wasting taxpayer money and diminishing the quality of life for Lagosians. LASPA condemns such acts in the strongest terms and is committed to taking all necessary measures to prevent and address these incidents.

Furthermore, LASPA reassured the public of its commitment to enhancing the parking infrastructure in the state. “We are currently installing additional state-of-the-art directional and warning signages across various locations. These modern signages are designed to improve navigation, aid in efficient parking, and contribute to the overall safety and convenience of motorists”, it added.

The agency also stated that installing advanced directional signage underscores its dedication to providing a reliable and user-friendly parking experience for all residents and visitors. While maintaining that it takes the issue of vandalism seriously and will not tolerate any acts that compromise the integrity of its parking facilities, LASPA commends well-meaning Lagosians who alerted law enforcement officers to this act and appreciate the swift action taken by its law enforcement partners in apprehending the culprit.

“In light of this incident, we urge the public to join hands with the government to protect public property and report any suspicious activity related to parking signages immediately to the authorities. LASPA is working closely with law enforcement agencies to ensure that perpetrators of such crimes are swiftly brought to justice”.

“We encourage anyone with information regarding vandalism or suspicious activities involving parking infrastructure to contact LASPA at 02-01-2275230 or 02-01-2275231, or visit our website at www.laspa.lg.gov.ng”, the statement noted.
