Erunwen community is agog with the news that Honourable Babajimi Adegoke Benson (MHR) has decided to commission his facilitated, yet longest road construction on Saturday 18th. January 2025 at the Erunwen road entrance.
Being the people’s representative for the Ikorodu Federal constituency in the Federal house of representatives, he has been in the vanguard of rapid and unprecedented infrastructural / people development that has not only changed the landscape of Ikorodu communities/land but positively touched and changed the lives of both Indigenes and settlers of Ikorodu alike. He has successfully facilitated construction and rehabilitation of several roads within the constituency which has brought succour to many and endeared him to them all. Not only are the roads successfully done with drains and quality asphalting but functional solar streetlights also ardoned these life-saver roads.
Erunwen is one of those communities of Ikorodu with arguably one of the most-enlighhtened residents which homes thousands of people. The community has painfully suffered the effects of very bad road over the ages. Even when Ex-gov. Fashola constructed the Obafemi Awolowo road which is arguably the best road in Ikorodu, Erunwen road which adjoined it is neglected. Despite several representations and appeals at different fora (town hall meetings, letters etc.) coupled with several self-help palliative interventions funded by the Erunwen people, spanning over ten (10) years, with the most- successful done in year 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown period which gulped Millions of Naira, a succour came through their worthy representative, Hon JB (Babajimi Benson) as he is fondly called, just a while back which’s completion is now to be celebrated on the 18th. January 2025.
The construction has brought unprecedented increase in both the commercial and social activities within the community of seven indigenous families. Property has sprung-up both in numbers and value which members of the community have attested to. The community has over seventeen Community Development Associations (CDA) coordinated by a uniting entity, the Joint Erunwen Community Development Forum (JECDF) led by an able Executive Committee (ExCo) Chaired by Mr. Olaniyi Maxwell Olowoshoke. This body in conjunction with the various CDAs has been relentless in innovation, commitment and dynamism at rallying the people towards positive development.
Both the young and old in the community have continuously praised Hon. Babajimi Benson and even suggested him for the next Governor of the state given his antecedents and visible achievements in the entire Ikorodu town spanning his years of representation.
So, 18th. January 2025 is a date that Erunwen will be agog to show their appreciation and all well-wishers are invited.
