The Lagos Island delegates in the just-concluded All Progressive Congress (APC) primaries in the Lagos Party Secretariat, ACME Ikeja, have rejected the outcome of the party primary, which produced Hon. Taiwo Oyekan as the APC candidate for the Lagos Island local chairmanship. “APC conducts kangaroo primaries.”
Lagos Island LG delegates outrightly reject the primary’s election irregularities led by the Hon. Babatunde Ogala Committee.
The delegates insist that they cast their votes for their aspirant. The results were shocking, not the true reflection of what transpired at the election ground, especially in Lagos Island’s local government. With the pictorial evidence showcasing the voters who supported Hon. Rosul Eshilokun, Hon. Yussuf Olaigbade, and Hon. Jamiu Fashola, it becomes apparent that there was some form of irregularity or foul play involved in the voting process.
However, the total vote cast was 25, to break it down, there are 27 LGA. Mr Shina Saba, supervisor for special duties in Lagos Island local government and by virtue of his position, can’t be a delegate for primary election also to Mr. Arulai Folami
re-signed from the LGA as a result of vying for the Chairmanship post. So how come we now have a total of 26 votes? This was a pre-emptive agenda which later came into play. Then why make people have false hopes that there would be free and fair elections? It shows that the people have lost confidence with atrocities kangaroo primary elections held yesterday, and possibly this will affect the APC in the general election come 2027.
In this fraudulent process, the two leaders from the Lagos Island local government, Chief Mutiu Are and Alhaji Oyinlomo Danmole, were present and allowed their community to be robbed in broad daylight. With this development, history will reveal the intricate details of the discrepancies and the extent of their involvement in the unfolding narrative.
Most of the aspirant agents expressed their frustration outside the voting hall, emphasising that the transparency observed there clearly showed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was genuinely elected by the people’s votes, unlike the dubious practices that have been occurring. He lamented that these actions bring shame to their party and questioned when such deceitful methods would come to an end. They concluded with a hopeful note that history would ultimately reveal the truth when the right time comes.
