The Shining Mao Children School has hosted the 2nd edition of an inspiring 1-hour marathon, bringing together children, parents, and teachers in a collective effort to raise the future of athletes and physical fitness for community well-being.
Director of Study Alhaji Musa Olalere with a school sports master’s, proudly flagged off the marathon, signalling the start of an exhilarating hour-long run.
Participants, fuelled by a shared commitment to fitness, ran with enthusiasm, making their way through the designated route.
The event kicked off at 7:00 am on Sunday morning with 250 participants gathering outside school premises. Instructions regarding the route and rules were provided, ensuring a smooth and safe run for everyone involved.
The route was duly followed from the school premises; Ita-Faji – Uppercampos – Bamgbose – Tinubu – Tomjones – Agarawu – Aroloya, Lagos lsland, Lagos state, Nigeria.
The marathon concluded at the school premises at 8:30 AM, at which point the participants from three different houses represented the school symbols; Green House came in 1st position to win the marathon race, followed by Yellow House for 2nd position and Blue House as 3rd position.
The mini-race marathon not only fostered a sense of physical fitness among the students, parents, and teachers but also underscored the importance of community well-being, the director of study said.
Mao Children’s School is proud to have contributed to the community’s goal of raising the future of athletes in Lagos Island, Lagos State, and looks forward to continuing its efforts in promoting a healthier, greener future.
The event concluded with refreshments being served, celebrating the collective effort and achievements of all involved.
